Services - Support Groups

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, some support groups are currently not running. Please contact a member of staff for more information

Carers often feel that they get the best support from other carers. The variety of support groups which we offer will give you an opportunity to talk, learn and relax with other carers who understand what you are feeling. Our support groups are facilitated by either a trained volunteer or a member of our carer support team.

Carers’ Book Group

Carers meet regularly to choose a book to read at home and then meet to discuss their views on the book.  The group aims to expand the carer’s choice of reading, enter into stimulating discussions and have fun at the same time.

Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month between 7.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. at our Carers’ Resource Base at 72 Dumbarton Road, G81 1UG.

Craft Group – Thursday, 10-12.30pm at the Carers Centre

The group brings together carers who wish to share their skills and creativity.  It provides an opportunity for carers to further develop their skills, socialise with other carers as well as accessing support.  To date, the group has enjoyed card making, jewellery making and knitting.

The group meets every  Thursday between 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m at our Carers’ Centre.

Carers’ Walking Group

The group is a way for carers to look after their own health by joining carers in a healthy walk. The walks last for 1.5 hours and are suitable for all levels of fitness. Takes place in Dumbarton and Clydebank one Monday per month.

Before joining the group, we ask carers to complete a medical questionnaire.

A light sandwich lunch is provided and we have activities and games for some fun in the company of other carers. A staff member and volunteer are present if you need advice/information.

Our online yoga class is on every Thursday 11am – 12pm. An opportunity to relax with some meditation and yoga. Suitable for all fitness levels. Takes place via Zoom with our yoga instructor, Claire McGinley. Before joining the class, we ask carers to complete a medical questionnaire.
